The Black Mafia Family (BMF) story is arguably one of the biggest drug empires in the United States. The modus operandi of how the cartel was run has been employed by some legal businesses to achieve business growth. This is because the manner with which Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and his brother Terry “Southwest” Flenory ran their business is worthy of emulation. With over $270 million raked, you can’t fault the level of effectiveness of this cartel. However, this article will be focused on Big Meech parents. Did they know of their children’s drug trade? What did they do? Are they still alive? These questions and more are what we hope to give answers to.
You know the story of the BMF was huge when Starz, a TV network, decided to make a series of it. Produced by 50 Cent, one of the most formidable producers in the business today, the BMF series on Starz takes a look into the life of Big Meech, the drug empire, and the cartel’s operations. Some emotional scenes focused on Big Meech parents, Charles and Lucille Flenory, in the series released recently.
Big Meech Parents Have No Stake in The Drug Empire.
Charles and Lucille Flenory would not have believed that their children would grow to become the most notorious leaders of a fearsome drug gang. We bet they didn’t see it coming despite giving them proper parental guidance. But, to every man, his choice. We cannot fault Big Meech parents, or maybe we can, but we do not have evidence to show that Charles and Lucille didn’t play the role of parents well.
In Cleveland, Ohio, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory was born to Charles and Lucille Flenory on June 21, 1968. Demetrius isn’t the only child of the Flenory. They also had Terry Flenory and Nicole Flenory. Both Big Meech and Southwest attended the same high school. It was here they built the foundation of selling drugs. This was as far back as the 1980s. What prompted this is what we cannot decipher. But we know that people often get into drug peddling to make money, especially if it is not enough. For Demetrius and his brother, we believe their reason for peddling drugs was to afford things. As for the Big Meech parents, they had no part in the business, at least according to the testimonial of the brothers at trial.
The Black Mafia Empire
If someone had told Demetrius that the little drug business would expand to almost all parts of the United States of America, the most likely would have scoffed with a puff of smoke. But with time, Big Meech and his brother were able to turn a small drug business into a multi-million dollar business. They got so big that they could open branches of the operation in different parts of the country.
As a result of the booming of the business, Big Meech decided to name their business the Big Mafia Family. In addition, they opened a music record label just so there was a way of laundering money and casting a shadow behind their drug activities.
However, the brand has become a legal entity with merchandising and other businesses associated with it.
Where is Big Meech Now?
Big Meech was charged with countless charges alongside his brother, Terry “Southwest” Flenory. Both were sentenced to prison after the authority found out about their illegal trade. Even though the duo is in prison, the BMF remains as the organization has turned things around.
Big Meech Parents: Where They Found Guilty in The Trial of Big Meech?
In an interview with All Hip Hop, Meech mentioned that his parents had no drinking or smoking habits. He said, “Neither of my parents had any drug or drinking habits.” As a result of this testimonial, prosecutors couldn’t find any illegal activity by Charles and Lucille Flenory. In other words, it was clear as day that they did not play a role in the drug operations. We believe the parents must have cautioned their children about the illegality of the operations. Still, then again, they are grown adults and would face the consequences of their actions alone.
Are Big Meech Parents Alive?
Unfortunately, Charles Flenory passed on in early July 2017. We do not know the cause of death. Lucille, his wife of many years, wrote on her Instagram page on the fourth year memorial of her husband; she said: “Yesterday 4 years ago. 7/8/17. God called you home. Time passes, yet the pain of losing you is still difficult to bear. We love and miss you always and forever.”
Lucille is still very much alive and has even begun to sell BMF branded merchandise. She also is in full support of the BMF series.
The BMF Series on Starz
Lucille is in awe of Michele White’s portrayal of her character in the Starz series, BMF. According to her, White played her role with aplomb, and she couldn’t help but like her performance. Lucille also believes that their friendship would transcend the series.

Big Meech is Still in Prison
Lucille Flenory is constantly advocating for the release of Big Meech, who is yet to be released. On the other hand, his brother Southwest had his sentence reduced by six years and left prison, and is currently under house arrest. Big Meech had his sentence reduced by three years, but the judge refused to grant him compassionate release. According to the verdict, Meech will complete his sentence in 2028.
Lucille, the only living of Big Meech parents, has said that while he disapproved of her son’s drugs activities, she cannot but praise his business acumen. This business sense is what made BMF the famous brand that it is today.
Conclusion
As you have found in this article, Big Meech parents didn’t do BMF drug activities. Big Meech also confirmed this. While Lucille is still alive and hoping that her son will soon come out of prison, she has taken it upon herself to market BMF merchandise.
