Muir spent a single semester at the Institute of Political Journalism at the Fund for American Studies at Georgetown University.

Early Career
Muir was an anchor and reporter for WTVH-TV in Syracuse, in his final year in college. Interestingly, he was on ground in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Israel and the Gaza Strips during the 1995 assassination of former Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin.
This earned him nationwide acclaim – Honors from Radio-Television News Directors Association, and recognition from the Associated Press (AP) as Best Enterprise Reporting and Best Television Interview, proved that.
Amazingly, his hometown didn’t want to feel left out, as Syracuse Press Club, recognized him as the anchor of the “Best Local Newscast”. He bagged a nomination as one of the “Best Local News Anchors” alongside.
In 2000, Muir moved on from his hometown as he secured a deal with WCVB television in Boston, where he was an anchor for three years.
Again, the awards won’t stop flowing as he won the regional Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative reporting.

His ABC News Journey
David’s relentless mindset continued and landed him in one of the biggest television stations in the country. In 2003, Muir joined ABC News, firstly as an anchor of the overnight news program World News Now.
Furthermore, his tenacity and nationwide acceptance presented him with the responsibility of handling ABC News’ early morning World News This Morning (America This Morning).
